A Passion for Orthodontics
I knew I wanted to be a healthcare professional at an early age. I grew up drawing, painting, and building model boats and airplanes, all of which required manual dexterity. Dentistry, and then orthodontics, seemed to be a perfect fit and after over 30 years I couldn't imagine a better profession for my skill set.
Watching the positive changes taking place in my patient's lives, owing to the confidence that having a great smile imparts, makes me excited about my work.
Education and Continuing Education
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – Case Western University School of Dentistry
- Three-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Orthodontics – Harvard School of Dental Medicine
I was accepted at the dental school at Case Western University after only two years of undergraduate studies at Miami University (Oxford). I was, at the time, the youngest student ever to be accepted at Case Western University School of Dentistry. Following my graduation from Case Western University, I was awarded a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in orthodontics at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, one of only three students a year accepted into this prestigious program. Following my graduation from Harvard, I joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina as an Assistant Professor of Orthodontics. Thereafter, I moved to San Francisco to teach at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and opened a practice in San Francisco, California.
I have earned some prominent publishing credits, notably as a contributor to the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and the Journal of Dental Research. I returned to my alma mater as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where I served for over ten years.
Part of my commitment to delivering exceptional care to my patients is my ongoing pursuit of continuing education. Only by staying current on emerging technologies and treatment methodologies am I able to ensure my patients receive the highest quality results
Dr. Ron Greenspan was selected by his peers for The Best in San Diego Award for 2013 and again in 2014. This impressive award is determined by asking hundreds of San Diego general dentists the following question:
"If you had a patient in need of an orthodontist, which orthodontic specialist would you refer them to?" Learn More

I spent my childhood in Cleveland, Ohio and am still a staunch Cleveland Browns fan...ouch. I helped pay my way through college with the money I earned selling hot chocolate and hot dogs at the games while watching the old time greats on the Browns. Deborah and I have two children, Max and Sophie who are both University of Michigan graduates. We share our home with George, a King Charles Spaniel, and “M,” a Maltese.
